The general population frequently has hip discomfort, which gets worse with aging, weight gain, and sedentary lifestyles. One of the biggest joints in the body is the hip joint, which is a ball and socket joint used for routine activities like walking. Due to its great range of motion, the hip joint can transfer weight and forces from the upper and lower limbs. The socket that extends from the pelvis is known as the acetabulum, and the ball of the joint is referred to as the femoral head. Both surfaces are surrounded by cartilage, which enhances mobility and distributes forces. The capsule, a robust fibrous membrane that surrounds the joint, aids in holding the bones together. Synovium coats the inside of the capsule, generating synovial fluid that lubricates and provides nourishment. Many hip structures and variables might contribute to hip discomfort. They fall into one of two groups: extra-articular (found outside the joint) or intra-articular (found inside the joint). Hip discomfort associated with tendinitis, moderate trauma, and muscle/ligament strains is more common in adolescent patients. Osteoarthritis, fractures, ligament, tendon, and muscle strains, trochanteric pain syndrome (bursitis), labral tears, and avascular necrosis are more common in older persons.
